This championship course was designed by golf course architect David Rainville who also redesigned Torrey Pines. David, while in partnership with professional golfer Billy Casper, completely remodeled Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, a major PGA tournament site, and has created a number of designs or remodels that have been used for regional tournaments as well as qualifying courses for national events. Forty miles from downtown Los Angeles, Upland Hills features large greens and exceptional mountain views. The course is extremely well-maintained with beautiful greens. Upland Hills employs a good pace of play and is fun for all levels of golfers.

Biographical Sketch

David Rainville has been a practicing golf course architect since 1961, maintaining an office in Tustin, California. He joined the American Society of Golf Course Architects in 1983 and as of 2004 is credited with more than 50 completed golf courses in the western United States and Asia, a large number of his courses being in Southern California. In addition, David has redesigned and remodeled numerous existing courses.

David has served on the Board of Directors for the ASGCA and is a member of the USGA and the So.Ca. Turfgrass Council. He holds a Class A General Engineering Contractors License in the State of California.

He began his career early by learning the principles of the profession in the in summers between school years on many of the courses designed and constructed by his father, Harry Rainville. These early experiences gave David a practical understanding of golf course construction, the importance of well-drawn plans, and a vision of the transformation from paper to reality.

Complementing David's design experience is his position of managing general partner of a 36-hole golf complex for over 30 years. His working understanding of the operational and maintenance aspects of golf, including staffing, finance, budgeting and tournaments, goes into each of his course designs.
